Hard Drives
The majority of laptops produced since 1999 use hard drives with a thickness of 9.5mm. Earlier laptops most likely used hard drives with a thickness of 12.5mm.
All of the hard drives that we stock are 9.5mm and should be compatible with 99% of laptops produced since 1999.
In some cases pre-1999 laptops currently fitted with a 12.5mm drive may have a universal cradle that will allow the fitment of a 9.5mm drive.
CD / DVD Drives
Compatibility is a little trickier with CD/DVD drives. Although most drives are of the same physical dimensions, variations occur with the plastic front bezel fitted to the drive. Laptops with flat fronted bezels of a similar width to the drive itself should be able to fit most of the drives we stock.
Other laptops have chamferred, angular or extended length bezels and require a replacement drive with similar bezel fixings, so that the bezel from your existing drive can be removed and refitted to the replacement drive.
